Samsung announces Family Hub 2.0 smart refrigerator; Next-gen fridge sports recipes App, voice command, internal cameras

Samsung is a South Korean multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul.

Samsung is expanding its series of connected refrigerators after announcing its new iteration named Family Hub 2.0, which elevates the company's smart refrigerator models from four to 10. The next generation smart refrigerator is recently unveiled at the CES 2017 event.

During the said event, Samsung revealed its next generation of products through an expanded set of refrigerators, washing machine, dryers and other kitchen appliances. One of the latest attractions on the tech giant's unveiling is its Family Hub 2.0 refrigerator.

"After just one year of availability, the Family Hub has transformed the concept of the connected kitchen by enabling users to order and manage grocery shopping, connect with family and friends, and access entertainment right from the comfort of their kitchen," stated Byung-Sam Seo, President of Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics.

"Taking flexibility and functionality to a whole new level, the Family Hub 2.0 is entirely about helping consumers better manage as well as enjoy their lives," he added.

The said refrigerator will be available across a full range of Samsung's popular 3-Door and 4-Door French Door models, which focuses on a more user-friendly interfaces and more intuitive app integration.

According to NDTV, the new Internet-connected devices from Samsung sport upgrades over the previous Family Hub 1.0 with new features like View Inside Cameras, improved shopping list, grocery buying via MasterCard and Recipe browsing among others.

Through special software, users can identify food items kept inside their refrigerator that needs to be replenished through produced image by the View Inside Cameras feature. Also, the Recipes app, supported by AllRecipes, can show extra-large fonts of recipes while adding options like reading the recipes aloud.

Through a 21.5-inch LED touchscreen acting as an interactive digital bulletin board, users can access updated calendars, handwrite seamlessly and share photos in real time. Even more, Samsung's advanced voice technology comes integrated with Family Hub 2.0's apps. The voice-activated interface allows users to issue voice commands that will report weather and time, add products to shopping lists and order groceries online, manage to-do-lists, and set calendar schedule, Business Wire reported.

Samsung added more features in the Family Hub 2.0 refrigerator in the field of home security services and entertainment through its collaborating partners like Grubhub, Nomiku, Glympse, Ring, Spotify, and iHeartRadio.
