Samsung Galaxy Note 7

In 2016, plenty of smartphones from various brands were released. However, there are 3 smartphones from well-known companies that failed miserably.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Samsung skipped the Galaxy Note 6 moniker to launch the Galaxy Note 7 with much hype. Though the critics and audience gave rave ratings to Galaxy Note 7, the phablet failed miserably as news about exploding batteries started surfacing from various parts of the world.

At first, Samsung claimed that it was because of the faulty battery manufactured by its sister company. However, Galaxy Note 7 units featuring batteries from another company also started exploding. Samsung started recalling the phablet and even started providing Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones at discounted price to Note 7 owners.

Now, carrier partners of Samsung are sending out an software update to users who have not returned the phablet. Once the software is installed, the Note 7 won't charge again. Samsung is expected to release a statement to let the world know the real behind what caused the Note 7 units to blast. Speculations have it that the hardware design of the Note 7 may have caused it to explode.

LG G5

In a bid to defeat Samsung Galaxy S7 and other rival flagships, LG opted to launch its LG G5 2016 flagship with modular design. The South Korean company also manufactured several accessories (advertised as LG G5 Friends) like additional battery pack, 360 cam and more that could be swapped on to the device.

LG G5 met with poor sales as customers were not interested in spending additional money on accessories after buying it with costlier price tag, The Korea Times reported. Rumors suggest that the upcoming LG G6 smartphone will not feature a modular design which also indicates that it was a bad decision for the company to launch LG G5 with modular design.

iPhone 7

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus does come with some new improvements like improved camera, dual rear camera (iPhone 7 Plus), and water and dust resistant bodies. Many critics have claimed that the iPhone 7 sports a design that is quite similar to iPhone 6S from 2016 and iPhone 6 from 2015 and its features are not that impressive to entice existing iPhone users to upgrade.

Recent news suggests that since iPhone 7 is not selling well, Apple has decided to cut its production by 10 percent. Even retailing partners of Apple have started selling iPhone 7 with discounts.
