Actors Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth, who play Hulk and Tgor respectively, onstage at Marvel's Hall H Panel for 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' during Comic-Con International 2014 on July 26, 2014 in San Diego, California.

Disney has released the official synopsis for "Thor: Ragnarok," revealing what the titular Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will be up against in the film. Hulk's (Mark Ruffalo) involvement is also detailed and it will involve fighting Thor before they get to team up to defeat a greater evil.

The synopsis, as per /Film, states Thor is imprisoned and marooned on the other side of the universe and without his magical hammer, the Mjolnir. He will have to hurry back to Asgard in order to stop the new villain, Hela (Cate Blanchett), before she unleashes Ragnarok aka the End of the Asgardian World.

It is also revealed that while imprisoned he will be forced to fight in a gladiator match against his fellow Avenger, the Incredible Hulk. This implies he has been marooned on the planet Sakaar, which comes from the "Planet Hulk" comic book storyline.

Both Thor and Hulk fought each other briefly during the first "Avengers" movie in 2012. Given how the Marvel Cinematic Universe follows real-world time the movie is also likely to explain what happened to the Hulk following his departure in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," two and a half years ago.

While both Thor and Hulk be the main draw of the film, other highlights include Blanchett as the villain Hela and the return of Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Actor Jeff Goldblum will also be appearing as Grandmaster, a member of the Elders of the Universe, Collider reported.

Karl Urban will also be in the film, portraying the character Skurge. Tessa Thompson will appear as Valkyrie. Natalie Portman will not reprise her role as Thor's love interest, Jane Foster, but the actress has expressed interest in coming back in future instalments.

It is widely rumoured that Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Doctor Strange but there are still no official mentions of him appearing in "Thor: Ragnarok." Thor notably appeared in the "Doctor Strange" end-credits scene, sparking the speculations.

The movie will release on Nov. 3. The trailer for "Avengers: Age of Ultron," which was the last movie to see Thor and Hulk together, can be viewed below:
