Luca Todesco has updated his Yalu jailbreak tool that now supports more iOS devices while Prometheus, specifically its TSSChecker companion tool, has been upgraded for better support of the iPhone 7 series. Will developments pave the way to the release of the rumored iOS 10.2 jailbreak, which likely will be provided by Team Pangu?
As the jailbreak community waits for the next move from the Chinese hacking team, presumably to finally release the JB tool that will improve on what Todesco has already achieved with the Yalu iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak, background works were happening, according to iDownloadBlog.com. One notable breakthrough is Prometheus creator tihmstar.
The dev, iDB said, has corrected a flaw on the TSSChecker tool that it can now accurately save SHSH blobs on Apple's current flagship models - the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. This indicates that owners of the devices can preserve their SHSH blobs with little or no issues at all and then upgrade or downgrade to unsigned iOS firmware.
And that would mean too that jailbreaking will be a lot easier as the same report took note of the rising trend - "for jailbreaks to be released for a firmware which has already gone unsigned." If indeed this will be the case, then "downgrade tools like Prometheus, and the TSSChecker blobs that it requires may begin to become a major part of the jailbreaking lifecycle in future," the report added.
Needless to say, there will be bigger rooms for the likes of Pangu or TaiG to operate as they can work, for instance, on iOS 10.2 even as Apple has already issued version 10.3 with the assurance that jailbreak fans can still access the later build and take advantage of the crack designed for it. This translates to higher chance of an iOS 10.2 jailbreak release as teased recently by Stefan Esser, also known as @i0n1c.
But before that happens, jailbreak fans will have to make do first with the Todesco Yalu JB tool that was just updated by its creator and now supports jailbreaking for iPhone models running on TSMC-made processing chips, specifically for the iPhone 6S series and iPhone SE. In case Todesco will further issue updates on his jailbreak, soon enough Yalu will work too on the iPhone 6 series and the iPhone 5S.
To be clear though, the Yalu iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak is still plagued with problems and instability that Todesco himself is not recommending the tool unless one has some developing skills. So for most of the jailbreak fans, it's best to hold out for an iOS 10.2 jailbreak release, which as mentioned above has greater chances of happening real soon whether coming from Team Pangu or TaiG.
