With "The Legend of the Blue Sea" about to conclude, SBS has revealed the show's ratings are on the rise. The Jan. 15 broadcast of the SBS drama apparently recorded 20.1 percent in viewership ratings.
The 15th episode of "The Legend of the Blue Sea" recorded nationwide ratings of 20.1 percent, according to Nielsen Korea. This is a 1.4 percent increase from the show's 14th episode, which only recorded 18.7 percent.
KBS 2TV's "My Fair Lady," starring Heo Jung-Eun and Oh Ji-Ho, came in second with 7.8 percent viewership ratings, while MBC's coming-of-age drama "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" only got 5.8 percent ratings. The latter, which stars Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk, ranked last against its rivals in the Wednesday-Thursday timeslot throughout its run.
Extremely pleased with the positive reception, the production crew of "The Legend of the Blue Sea" released some behind-the-scenes photos, including close-up shots of the lead stars Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho. It also includes the birthday scene of Shim Chung (Jun) alongside Yoo Na (Shin Rin Ah), Jo Nam Doo (Lee Hee Joon) and Tae Oh (Shin Won Ho).
"Since the ratings continue to rise, the actors and staff have been filming in good spirits," Korean newsoutlet The Korea Herald quoted the show's producers as saying, as cited by Soompi. "We'll work harder, so this upward trend continues until the last episode. We hope our dear viewers show their love and support by continuing to tune in."
Meanwhile, the sneak peak for the SBS drama's next episode shows Heo Joon Jae (Min Ho) finally meets his long-lost mother, Mo Yoo Ran (Na YoungHee). However, it seems that the much-awaited reunion is not going to happen.
Speculations are rife that the upcoming episode may feature the death of a major character. It is believed that either Mo Yoo Ran, Heo Joon Jae or Shim Chung will meet an accident while crossing the road.
"The Legend of the Blue Sea" airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 PM (KST). Check out the preview here:
