The Nokia 6 is the first Nokia Android phone to be released by HMD.

Espoo-based tech firm HMD Global Oy has officially unveiled Nokia's first ever Android-based phone called Nokia 6. The recently launched phone is said to sport an all metal unibody with specifications that is likely to target consumers who prefer mid-ranged handhelds.

The said announcement is just the first step on what longing fans will be expecting about HMD's other yet to be revealed Nokia phones that are slated to be made known in 2017. Furthermore, the Nokia 6 is reported to be like a tweaked iteration of the equally talked about Nokia D1 that is believed to a mid-ranger as well.

HMD's Nokia 6 will have the aforementioned aluminum hood alongside a 5.5-inch display donning a 1,920 x 1,080 screen resolution. Moreover, the display will be reinforced with the latest Gorilla protective covering from glass maker Corning. The handset will be allotted with a decent 64 GB of memory space together with an ample amount of random access memory (RAM) with a total of 4 GB.

The phone will be preinstalled with the latest Nougat operating system (OS) from Android and will also carry Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 chipset that has an X6 LTE. The Nokia 6 will be sporting a 16 and 8-megapixel back and front facing shooter respectively with the former having phase detection and autofocus attributes. Other features include a fingerprint sensor situated where most handsets place their home buttons, a Dolby ATMOS support, and a 3,000 mAH battery pack, Nokia Power User reported.

Nevertheless, the upcoming phone will be exclusively sold to China and HMD has yet to make a statement if the Nokia 6 will also be sold to other regions, Reuters reported. The company explained such move saying that it is a reflection of the company's eagerness to "meet the real world needs" of people of varying market types all across the globe. Meanwhile, the Nokia 6 is said to carry a price tag of $246, though there is no definite date yet as to when will the handset be rolled out in the market.
