Nokia is expected to release up to 7 smartphones this year which is rumored to include Nokia EDGE, Nokia D1C and Nokia P phones
Avaxx, an authorized distributor of Nokia/Microsoft based in Malaysia has revealed through a presentation slide that Nokia 2017 smartphones would be coming to market by second quarter of this year. It has also revealed that Nokia will be releasing around 6 to 7 devices comprising of low-end, mid-range, and flagship smartphones by the end of this year, Lowyat reported.
One of the first Nokia smartphones that is expected to re-launch the brand is Nokia D1C. It is a midrange smartphone that would arrive with full HD display and stock version of Nougat OS.
It is expected to arrive in two screen sizes of 5-inch and 5.5-inch. The smaller device is expected to feature 2 GB of RAM and 13-megapixel shooter whereas the bigger variant is expected to feature 16 GB of RAM and 16-megapixe rear camera. Both the models are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 430 chipset and feature 16 GB of native storage, Nokia Power User reported.
Nokia P1 is rumored as a forthcoming flagship from the company. It is rumored to be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC and 6 GB of RAM. It is expected to house a 23-megapixe shooter. Speculations are rife that this flagship would be unveiled later this year.
After Samsung rolled out several dual-edge curved display totting smartphones, various Chinese companies like Xiaomi, Vivo and Huawei have also released smartphones with curved displays. Speculations are rife that Nokia may announce a Nokia EDGE smartphone with dual-edge curved screen.
The Nokia Edge 2017 smartphone is rumored to feature 5.5-inch quad HD display. Rumors suggest that it will include 3 GB of RAM and an unknown chipset. It is expected to feature 23-megapixel camera with DSLR capabilities. It is rumored to be equipped with 3,600 mAh battery.
Some leaked photos of Nokia EDGE have also surfaced. However, the authenticity of the photos cannot be confirmed.
Nokia is expected to make a comeback at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 event. Also, there is no confirmation whether Nokia, now owned by HMD Global, will release its 2017 smartphones in the U.S.
