It looks like schoolground violence isn't limited on high school halls these days, as seen in a video showing a male graduate student physically attacking his female classmate at the Shanghai University of Sport. The cause of the altercation, it seems, stemmed from a classroom debate.
Instead of talking the issue out, the man sent the woman tumbling to the ground through a powerful shove from behind. A report by Shanghaiist showed that the man looked extremely agitated from the get-go, judging from animated GIF images depicting how he assaulted the woman.
The woman, who looked startled at what befell her, tried to reach out to the man on the problem. But he continued his fit of retaliatory rage, constantly threatening her as she followed and reasoned out, until he unloaded a double kick straight to her chest.
Still, the woman sought for answers from the man on his unreasonable assault, engaging him on a shouting match that lasted for at least 30 seconds. Without showing any signs of contentment, he launched into her a third time by booting her on the stomach, leaving her flinching in pain.
The footage became a popular topic on Chinese social media, with several users on Weibo calling out the man for his disgusting behavior. Some went on to say that an expulsion is a fitting punishment for him, while others called for worse consequences.
In a Global Times report, the woman purportedly consulted her class instructor on the matter, but went on to claim that the entire incident is merely a "personal conflict." Yet, when the footage emerged online, the university issued its official statement announcing that her attacker will be punished under its rules.
The university went on to say that the woman, who was taken to the hospital, didn't incur any injuries. Nonetheless, legal observers noted that she should've reported the assault to the police, noting that her welfare is far more important than the university's reputation.
