Alcatel, an emerging brand name in North America, has lined up an impressive array of products for release this year.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Alcatel has recently released its latest iteration on a series of affordable mobile devices with its A3 XL handset. The said device houses a 6-inch IPS LF panel, fingerprint sensors, and high-speed cellular connectivity.

The Alcatel A3 XL smartphone packs a whooping 6-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1080 pixels, while its external design features a plastic exterior and capacitive buttons at the front panel, NDTV has learned.

Alcatel senior vice president of the company's smart connectivity division, Vittorio Di Mauro, highlighted how the device's mediocre specifications still cater for many consumers, especially in terms of usability and entertainment.

In a press release, he said: "Our audience are those who really live on-the-go, are creative, socially active and are highly engaged with their communities of friends, family and work colleagues."

He furthered that "the new Alcatel A3 XL enables them to watch their best HD movies and get an all-around fabulous multimedia experience, including gaming that involves high-volume data transfer. In short, it gives them a lot of bang for their buck."

As per its internal chassis, the Alcatel A3 XL device will sport a 1.1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT8735B processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM. Under the hood, the phone also packs an 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card.

In its optics department, the Alcatel A3 XL will be equipped with 8-megapixel primary camera on the rear that is capable of shooting 720p video at 30fps. On the front panel, a 5-megapixel selfie camera is placed. Both the camera sensors sport an LED Flash.

Apart from the phone's hefty size, Alcatel A3 XL also highlights its Android 7.0 Nougat firmware and fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor is situated below the rear camera and can unlock the smartphone with a tap, or perform actions like answering calls, taking photos, encrypting documents and switching between apps, Digital Trends reported.

Its battery capacity offers a 3000mAh non-removable battery. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi and GPS. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor.

The said device is slated to be released in Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and Latin America in the first quarter of 2017. It will even expand on the markets of Europe sometime in the second quarter. The Alcatel A3 XL will have a debut price of $200 (roughly Rs. 13,600).
