'Injustice 2' characters: Lex Luthor, The Joker added to the sequel; PC, Mobile version launch after console versions?

NetherRealm Studios confirmed the development of "Injustice 2" for the PS4, Xbox One and possibly for the PC.

New details for "Injustice 2" will feature two returning characters and the launching of the PC and Mobile versions of the sequel after the console release.

It seems that two popular DC characters will return to "Injustice 2" as Lex Luthor and The Joker are hinted to be part of the sequel's roster. Both characters have played a role in the first "Injustice" video game as The Joker from an alternate universe was responsible for abducting and killing Lois Lane by tricking Superman into fighting Doomsday, who in fact was Lois along with their unborn child.

Adding insult to injury, The Joker managed to gain a nuclear bomb and blow up Metropolis with Lois was the trigger button. Batman and the Justice League managed to stop him, but Superman killed the Clown Prince of Crime in front of Batman, leading him to a darker path and establishing the One-Earth regime with an iron hand.

That world's version of Lex Luthor joined Superman's regime, but secretly works as a double agent for Batman in the insugency to take him down. He and Batman then created a teleportation device to abduct Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern and Green Arrow from another earth in order to help him stop Superman and his regime, Comic Alliance reported.

"Injustice 2's" playable roster will include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, The Flash, Aquaman, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus.

Other DC characters such as Beast Boy, Starfire, John Constantine, Captain Cold, Black Canary, The Atom, Firestorm, Poison Ivy, Ra's al Ghul and many more.

"Mortal Kombat" creator teased that the Watchmen, Sub-Zero and Spawn will be added to the sequel as well.

In other news, the PC and mobile versions of "Injustice 2" could launch after the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

Boon teased a PC version soon and chances of it releasing it alongside the consoles or in a later date, WCCFTech reported.

As for the mobile verson, oon tweeted before a a poll asking fans if the want an updated version of the first "Injustice" game or a separate new mobile app, with the majority wanting a new app by 71 percent.

NetherRealm Studios will likely add some RPG style elements in "Injustice 2" due to the sequel's Gear System. Gaming fans were concerned about the gear system as they felt it could affect the game's overall balance in terms of gameplay.

However, marketing manager Brian Goodman explained that he and the developers anticipated this and stated that they making it "intelligently" in order to present something unique.

Previous reports revealed that NetherRealm Studios confirmed that "Injustice 2" will launch on May 16 and hinting a possible demo or beta version of the sequel soon.

"Injustice 2" will launch on May 16 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
