The fate of "Sherlock" Season 5 has not yet been revealed by BBC, but cast member Martin Freeman already thinks that it will no longer be renewed.

Freeman, who plays the role of Watson, previously spoke with Radio Times (via The Telegraph) to say, with his eyes rolling, that he is unsure how long "Sherlock" will be on television. When pressed to give a definite answer, he told the publication that there are still some episodes from Season 4 that have not been release so it is important that viewers watch them first before asking if Season 5 is a go.

In July 2016, "Sherlock" writer and co-creator Steven Moffat seconded Freeman's statement, saying that he is also unsure of the show's fate. "I do not know how long we can keep it going. I am personally willing but I am hardly the main draw. I would be moderately surprised if this was the last time we ever made this show. But it absolutely could be," he said.

Meanwhile, "Sherlock" Season 4, episode 2 just aired on Sunday, Jan. 8, and it unveiled some interesting storylines for a slew of characters. For instance, it seems that Moriarty just resurfaced as Elizabeth. In one of the scenes, she gave Sherlock a hidden message. However, Digital Spy is speculating on the possibility of Elizabeth being the real Elizabeth, and she is simply working with Moriarty.

Elsewhere, the intriguing Sherrinford was also mentioned in episode 2, titled "The Lying Detective." However, it is unclear whether or not this word refers to a thing or a person. Lady Smallwood aka Alicia also knows who or what Sherrinford is, but she is obviously not sharing any information to anyone. But her knowledge could suggest that she is working with Moriarty and Elizabeth.

In other news, Sherlock also came face to face with his sister, but he did not have any idea who she was. There are speculations that Sherlock may not be aware that he has a sister or he might have only seen her in one of his visions.

"Sherlock" Season 4 airs Sundays on BBC One.
