Following the box office success of "Deadpool" despite its R rating, fans are looking forward to the "Deadpool 2." Developments are underway for the Ryan Reynold's starrer and we have got the big scoop on everything you need to know about the anti-hero sequel.
Deadpool 2 cast
Reynolds will reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool in the sequel. Morena Baccarin previously teased her return as Wade's love interest Vanessa Carlysle. There are speculations that Bacarrin's character, Vanessa, would transform into Copycat in "Deadpool 2." In the comic books, Vanessa's alter-ego is Copycat, a shape shifting mutant.
"Deadpool" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick toyed with the idea of Vanessa being Copycat for the first film, but held it off because they believed it would be too much for the audience.
"We did toy with [the idea], you know, but again, there was so much for the audience... We're introducing a new character to the world, and so we didn't want to muddy the waters with, 'Wait a second, she's also a mutant?'" Reese and Wenick told Cinema Blend.
The biggest mystery, however, is the casting for Cable. It's already confirmed that the time-travelling mutant have a role in "Deadpool 2." Actor Kyle Chandler is reportedly being considered for the role, but nothing has been finalized so far.
Deadpool 2 plot
The "Deadpool 2" plot details remain a heavily-guarded secret, although it presumes that it has something to do with Deadpool and Cable's rivalry or friendship.
"I think if Cable and Deadpool team up, it will likely be in Deadpool's world," Reese told Collider. Most certainly, the sequel will not show Deadpool and Cable in a "far-flung planet" because it, as Reese put it, would "take away from the relatability of Deadpool."
The sophomore film is expected to take on the same tone as its predecessor and drop viewers "into this reasonably insular, gritty, urban, dark world of Deadpool."
Deadpool 2 filming
According to Reynolds, filming for "Deadpool 2" has not officially begun yet. "We're still working on it.... We're not going to start until we're ready... Everything feels great," Reynolds revealed. "Everybody is seamlessly locked in to the situation."
