Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp attend the 2017 Weinstein Company and Netflix Golden Globes after party on January 8, 2017 in Los Angeles, California.

The road will be tough for Will Byers when "Stranger Things" returns this year. The events in the Season 1 finale indicated that in the upcoming season, he will go through something even worse than the particularly harrowing experience he previously had in the Upside Down.

In the Season 1 finale, Will was seen excusing himself from a special dinner with his mother Joyce and brother Jonathan. This came after he was supposedly free from the main villain of the show, the atrocious Demogorgon. However, it looks like his previous traumatic experience in the Upside Down was just the beginning of his ordeal.

It can be recalled that when Will came inside the family bathroom in the Season 1 finale, he coughed up what appeared to be a gargantuan green slug. The scene suggested that the character might not actually be as safe and sound as everyone thought, as the green slug that came from his inside might have already signaled that he was not fine after all. While the scene did not make clear what the slug meant, it could be an indication that he would turn into a Demogorgon in Season 2, according to Inverse.

Actor Noah Schnapp, who plays Will in the hit Netflix series, shared some interesting details about the upcoming season and his character at the annual BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party.  In his interview with Vanity Fair, Schnapp said, "You'll be seeing more of me. I'll be there. In the last episode, I threw up a slug, so Season 2 begins with what happens from there."

The actor teased that while the slug might mean that something was going on inside of him, fans would only know what the slug in Season 1 truly meant when the series returns. According to him, he may or may not have turned into a monster.

Schnapp did not outright admit to anything, but that was his first mention of his character's potential to turn into a Demogorgon after all his encounters with the monster in the debut season. It remains to be seen if Will will be the new villain to wreak havoc in the small town of Hawkins in Season 2. "Stranger Things" Season 2 is set to premiere this 2017.
