'Minecraft,' 'FIFA,' and 'Skyrim' to be released on Nintendo Switch

Mojang's 'Director of Fun' Lydia Winters speaks about 'Minecraft' during the Microsoft Xbox E3 press conference at the Galen Center on June 15, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

When "Minecraft" was first released, it instantly became a hit, especially among the young gamers. The game has evolved into a pop culture phenomenon so it may come as no surprise that Nintendo has decided to port it onto their latest console, the Switch.

"Minecraft" has skyrocketed to the top of the best sellers charts for multiple home consoles, including the Xbox and PlayStation, Dual Shockers reported. It has become a best-selling app on various mobile devices.

Not much is known about how the game will be utilizing the unique capabilities of Nintendo's latest offering. Only a tweet from one of the co-developers has given gamers a glimpse of what it will look like on the Switch.

Aside from "Minecraft," other big titles from third party developers will also make their way to the Switch. It has recently been revealed that Switch-compatible versions of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" as well as the "FIFA" franchise are currently in the works, according to the Express.

Rumors suggest that Nintedo's latest console will not have enough power to run the same quality of games compared to those on the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One. This means that gamers who opt for the Switch will have to make do with the latest games being PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 ports.

Aside from this possible bump in the road for Nintendo, many of their first-party games have actually gotten the gaming community pretty riled up. Such games include, but are not limited to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind" as well as "Super Bomberman R," among many others.

The Nintedo Switch is slated for a March 3 release in many major territories including the United States and the United Kingdom. It will be priced at $300, which seems like a reasonable price for a brand new gaming console. However, gamers must keep in mind that they still have to buy a number of accessories to make full use of it.

Charging grips for the Switch's Joy-Con controllers will set gamers back $30, while the controller itself costs $80. A more traditional type of controller, dubbed the Pro Controller, will be made available for $70. Even more expensive are extra Switch docks, which are priced at $90.
