'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' will have no new race tracks on Nintendo Switch

"Mario Kart" is a series of go-kart-style racing video games developed and published by Nintendo as spin-offs from its trademark "Super Mario" series.

"Mario Kart 8" is still one of the most highly-anticipated games for the Nintendo Switch. The game is updated enough to have "Deluxe" at the end of its title and will offer other features.

According to Famitsu, Nintendo confirmed that there will be a total of 48 race tracks to be featured within the "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" game. The variety is certainly a good way for players to take part in, but it is the same number of race tracks featured in the Wii U version of the game after the addition of the "Zelda" and "Animal Crossing" DLC.

While the lack of new race tracks could negatively impact the game, the inclusion of the new characters, such as the Inklings, in "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" might push players to repurchase the game. Also, the game is confirmed to run at a 1080p resolution at 60fps, which certainly is a much bigger improvement compared to the other Nintendo platform.

However, according to Game Rant, having new tracks is the game's major selling point, as well as old resurrected tracks from the older games. It is possible that more tracks will be released after the game launches for the Nintendo Switch as DLC packs. Nintendo did not rule out the possibility, and as such a new set of race track DLCs might be released in the future.

Another reason for the lack of new race tracks is the possibility of Nintendo developing the next "Mario Kart" game, but it is only speculation at this point. Whatever the reason may be, buying a Nintendo Switch will have the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" to look forward to before "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" is released.

"Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on April 28, 2017. Here is the latest video for the game.
