Langston Galloway (R) of the New Orleans Pelicans guards against Seth Curry (L) of the Dallas Mavericks in their matchup last Nov. 27, 2016.

Langston Galloway is an impressive basketball player, though scouts doubted whether he could make it in the NBA. He plays as a combo guard, an asset for any team, but at 6-foot-2 he was just considered too small. This became evident in the 2014 NBA draft, wherein he was not selected for any team.

Despite his misfortunes in that summer's draft, Galloway did not give up on his hopes of becoming a professional basketball player. He made his way up from playing for the New York Knicks in the NBA Summer League to getting a chance in the New York team's D-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks.

Galloway finally got his chance in the big leagues when the New York Knicks called him up on Jan. 7, 2015. His first contract with the team only lasted for 10 days, so he had to make good with this opportunity, Basketball Insiders reported. He proved his worth within that short amount of time and earned a "partially-guaranteed" deal with the Knicks.

Despite putting in decent performances, the Knicks chose to let Galloway's contract wind down. After two years, he now had to face the challenges of being a free agent. Luckily, it did not take him much time to be picked up by another team, as the New Orleans Pelicans selected him.

In fact, Galloway said that leaving the Knicks for the Pelicans was not that hard of a decision to make, the NY Post reported. Since making the move to New Orleans, his statistics have steadily been on the rise. His performances may even be enough to warrant a long-term contract from the Pelicans.

While Galloway is not an NBA superstar yet by any means, he could be used as an effective scorer from the bench when the starting players need a bit of a rest. Aside from his decent scoring, he also provides a numerous assists and a couple of rebounds as well. At such a young age, it would be interesting to see how he makes do with the opportunities presented to him in the basketball world, especially considering his immense potential.
