NetherRealm Studios confirmed the development of "Injustice 2" for the PS4, Xbox One and possibly for the PC.

The latest details for "Injustice 2" will feature three pre-order skins and new characters joining the sequel's roster.

NetherRealm Studios released the story trailer for "Injustice 2", which featured events after the first "Injustice" game. The story picks up with Superman still in prison as Batman watches over the world for new potential threats relating to the Man of Steel's regime.

An unknown narrator tells that both the superhero and super villain community is divided on which steps they will do next after the war between Batman's insurgents and Superman's regime. The trailer revealed several new and old DC characters in "Injustice 2" such as Robin (Damien Wayne), Bane and Poison Ivy, as wells as fight between Supergirl and Wonder Woman.

The trailer ends with the unknown narrator revealing himself to be Superman villain Braniac, possibly hinting to be the new threat that DC heroes and villains will face in the sequel. It speculated that Braniac sent Supergirl to Earth as one of his pawn, rather than by her own parents. More details about Supergirl’s motivation and the rest of the plot will likely be revealed in the coming months leading up to the May release. The trailer also revealed that the New God villain Darkseid will be in "Injustice 2" as a pre-order character, Gamerant reported.

Meanwhile, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. announced the pre-order bonuses for "Injustice 2" in the form of the Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition.

The Deluxe Edition of "Injustice 2" will feature three downloadable fighters as soon as they become available, an exclusive Defender shader for use in gear customization, and one premier skin, while the Ultimate Edition will feature nine future fighters, two exclusive shader packs (Destroyer and Defender), as well as three premier skins.

Warner Bros. stated that premier skins will completely change the look of characters, adding new dialogue and using a different voice. These three skins are Power Girl for Superggirl, John Stewart for Green Lantern and Reverse-Flash for The Flash, VG 24/7 reported.

The Deluxe Edition will cost around $80 and the Ultimate Edition will cost $100. The Deluxe version is only available digitally, but both standard and Ultimate editions are available at retail, as well as digitally. Darkseid is a pre-order bonus for all three.

"Injustice 2" will launch on May 16 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
