"Resident Evil 7" will have a full year's worth of paid DLCs, which can be obtained as a set using the Season Pass. However, video game developer and publisher Capcom is planning to release an add-on for the game without any additional cost.
According to the Japanese outlet Famitsu, the free DLC for "Resident Evil 7" will be called "Not a Hero," which will be released on spring. Other than that, information about it is murky, as Capcom has yet to give more details about the in-game aspects of the new content.
Aside from that, the official release date of the add-on is also unrevealed just yet. However, according to NeoGAF forum user Dusk Golem provided some details about the "Not a Hero" DLC.
If the user is correct about his information, the "Resident Evil 7" DLC will be launched sometime during May. It will also be the only free post-launch content that will not feature the main game's protagonist Ethan.
Also, the "Not a Hero" DLC will primarily follow a different character to better flesh out the gaps in the main campaign's story. The narrative in the DLC will still tie to Ethan's escape though, which still makes it relevant to the main game.
The DLC will give a different taste in term of gameplay style compared to the vanilla "Resident Evil 7" game. The NeoGAF user did not specify the difference, but it is possible that it has something to do with the first-person perspective given to the base game.
Capcom is still quiet about the matter, preferring not to give a statement about the various in-game elements found in the free "Not a Hero" DLC. Regardless, the addition of free content is welcome to the community, as it has been confirmed that the game can be beaten within 10 hours.
"Resident Evil 7" will be released on Jan. 24 for the PC, PS4, PS VR and Xbox One platforms. Here is the latest trailer of the game.
