Shawn Michaels is easily one of the most accomplished professional wrestlers in the history of the WWE. He has one multiple world championships with the promotion in both singles and tag team competitions. However, fans have not seen much of Michaels since he officially retired from wrestling back in 2010.
Since calling time on his tenure as a wrestler, Michaels has now ventured into the world of acting. He has a major supporting role as a converted ex-convict in the film "The Resurrection of Gavin Stone." He has described how his role closely resembles how he managed to find his own faith, which made it much easier for him to make the transition from the squared circle to the silver screen.
"I think it helps because one of the first things people notice is that wrestlers are more comfortable in front of the camera and things come relatively naturally for us," Michaels said in an exclusive interview with Ring Rust Radio. It is worth noting that WWE stars such as John Cena and Dean Ambrose have made their respective forays into acting as well. Even current WWE vice president Triple H has had a fair share of acting roles.
Michaels' transition to mainstream media is good news for his fans. Not only will they be able to see him flaunt his acting chops, he will also make more frequent appearances in WWE shows to promote his upcoming projects. He may even make an appearance in a WWE Studios films soon, which would instantly boost the chances of these promotional appearances.
There has been speculation that Michaels will come out of retirement to participate in this year's edition of the Royal Rumble. WWE champion AJ Styles has also baited fans by posting a photo of himself and Michaels on his official Twitter account. In the photo, both wrestlers are face to face with the words "Royal Rumble" written at the bottom.
However, fans should not expect Michaels to get back into competing anytime soon, even at this year's WrestleMania. He is currently in an ambassadorial role for the WWE, but has stated that he is not yearning for a return and has calmly battled the temptation to do so, ESPN reported.
