Jamie Dornan is best known for his role as Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades Darker." Recently, the Irish actor said he and the character are so different they would not be friends if he met the latter in real life.
"I don't think he would be my type when it comes to choosing mates," Dornan told Glamour referring to Grey. The actor said he would not imagine himself sat in a pub with the character, a billionaire entrepreneur who practices the sexual subculture of bondage, dominance and sadomasochism.
To prepare for the role, Dornan had to experience the BDSM world. He revealed to the publication that one rainy Tuesday evening, he kissed his wife Amelia Warner and their baby Phoebe Dornan good night and went to watch a dominant-submissive session in a dungeon for research, which was run by the "Fifty Shades" consultant on BDSM.
According to Dornan, the show was "quite jovial." For the actor, the approach was very different from how Grey does it in the Red Room as his "Fifty Shades of Grey" character takes it a bit more seriously.
Dornan did not deny that some of the scenes they filmed involving the Red Room was uncomfortable. In particular, he said there were times when Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele, was not wearing much and he had to do things to her that he would never choose to do to a woman.
After the success of "Fifty Shades of Grey," Dornan is reprising his role as Grey in the sequels "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed." The former will hit theaters on Feb. 10 while the latter will be released on Feb. 9, 2018.
In time for the "Fifty Shades Darker" release, Dornan is gracing the cover of February 2017 edition of GQ Australia. In an interview with the magazine, the actor said BDSM is not really his thing.
