German car manufacturer BMW recently released a major software update for its i3 electric car. The software update was in response to a glitch first reported by Consumer Reports while testing the i3 electric car.

Aside from improving the battery's power reserve level, the new software update for the i3 will also add topographical data using its standard navigation system in order to automatically prepare the car for any upcoming change in terrain by boosting the car's reserve power accordingly.

The BMW i3's electric motor packs 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, according to New York Times. The i3 can be used as a purely electric car but for consumers who wants more driving range they can choose the gasoline-powered 2-cylinder model. This model has a 1.9 gallon gas tank which will give users around 60 more miles of driving range.

However, some test drivers said that once the car reaches more than 25 miles per hour road noise makes the i3's engine drone. Those who have reviewed the car said it sounds like a lawn mower.
