Samsung discarding Android OS, running Tizen 3.0 instead; Galaxy Note, Galaxy S series to follow

A Samsung Z3 phone is being held by a hand as it showcase its Tizen OS.

Samsung has been reported of not using Android OS for one of their upcoming smartphones. According to reports, the company will be using Tizen 3.0. OS for the said smartphone. 

Samsung is said to be developing a smartphone that will not run its usual Android OS. The company would instead be using the OS for their wearables and other tech products. Tizen 3.0. mobile OS will be incorporated to an upcoming Samsung phone dubbed as Samsung Pride, according to GSM Arena.

There are still no specific details regarind the upcoming Samsung Pride, but most leaks would suggest that the model number of the said smartphone is SM-Z250F. Thus, suggesting of similar features to that of the Z series that was previously introduced by Samsung.

The said development of the device and the incorporation of the said OS aims to market voice control functionality rather than phone's hardware, according Phone Arena. Consequently, Samsung Pride will reportedy feature Bixby, Samsung's newest virtual assistant.

Moreover, the said device is expected to be initially introduced in countries like India, Bangladesh and Nigeria. For European consumers wanting to try Tizen 3.0 OS, they may be able to purchase the device in Russia, as mentioned by the same website. There are still no news or speculations about a European release for Samsung's Tizen 3.0 smartphone.

With regards to other impending flagship release of Samsung, there is still no news of the potential use of Tizen 3.0 OS. Most rumors would suggest that Note series and Galaxy S series will stick with the Android OS. The latest flagship products from Samsung has been reported to be running Android 7 Nougat.

It would be more logical for Samsung to follow the current Android trend rather than introducing something less known to their current market. However, this does not mean that Samsung will eventually not try such concept, especially that the company has been constantly expanding their influence in the vast tech industry.
