'Resident Evil 7: Biohazard' is a survival horror video game developed and published by Capcom.

Capcom recently reveals the current sales figures for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard." This includes the fact that more than 2.5 million copies of the game were shipped out in less than a week.

The sales figure is confirmed in an official press release made by Capcom. While it is not breaking any sales records up to date, it is still a strong start for the game, as the company first projected that the game would sell 4 million copies before its current fiscal year ends on March 31, 2017.

The "Resident Evil 7" demo broke records though, in terms of the number of downloads it had. Its success was largely due to a positive advertising via word of mouth, and as such it was downloaded 7.15 million times after being launched last month. With this, the entire "Resident Evil" franchise was able to sell a massive 75 million copies in total.

Regardless, Capcom does not intend to lose momentum despite the early successes enjoyed by the latest "Resident Evil" game. According to Game Rant, additional downloadable content will be released by spring, which is the first batch of the "Banned Footage" DLC packs.

"The Banned Footage Volume 1" DLC pack will feature two new chapters added to the game's story, which includes escaping a bedroom without detection and surviving an onslaught of monsters within a certain period of time. Also, the "Ethan Must Die" game mode is not yet revealed fully, other than the fact that it is the ultimate "Resident Evil 7" challenge.

Also, players who do not wish to buy the "Banned Footage" paid DLCs, there are rumors of an upcoming free DLC to be released soon. Called "Not a Hero," the content follows a different protagonist in order to flesh out the story even more.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is now available for the PC, PS4, PS VR, and Xbox One. Here is the launch trailer for the game:
