"Resident Evil 7" may be released next week, but some of the game's elements have already been leaked. People that finished the game took to internet and posted some spoilers.
According to Eurogamer, the spoilers were first released from the notorious image board 4chan, which quickly caught fire and sparked millions of discussion. Since then, various screenshots and videos have spread in various online platforms such as the NeoGAF forums and the subreddit dedicated to the "Resident Evil" game as a whole.
As of now, while efforts were made to ensure that the spoilers were taken down, its spread still continues as its release date approaches. There are a lot of raised questions about the spoiler leak itself, especially how the spoiler leaks came about in the first place.
According to Rash Bandicoot, the main reason behind it is the fact that "Resident Evil 7" was released a week early in the Middle East, specifically in the GCC region. Some retail outlets based in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates released the game on Jan. 16, which is earlier than the intended release date.
The early copies of "Resident Evil 7" are only released to the console versions, which means that players in this region were able to purchase it for their PS4 and Xbox One consoles. As for the PC version, it is DRM locked to Steam, which ensures that it will not run until the release date.
In other news, the Xbox Anywhere treatment will also be applied to "Resident Evil 7." This is confirmed by Xbox Head Phil Spencer, who took to Twitter and said that buying the Xbox One digital version of the game will net players a PC version copy as well.
