"Godzilla: King of Monsters" has found its first cast member. "Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown has officially joined the film and it will be the young actress' first feature film project.

"I just had a really incredible connection with the director," she told ET Online of the film's director, Michael Doherty. "I had a great meeting with him and you know, I just really love him. It's my first movie. I'm really excited and that's really all I can say, but it's going to be great!"

The details of her character and the film's plot are being kept under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter stated. It is expected to build up the world of monsters given that it will tie into this year's "Kong: Skull Island" and the crossover film "Godzilla vs King Kong" in 2020. It has been hinted that the three-headed dragon King Ghidorah will appear.

Brown has garnered a lot of recognition for her portrayal of Eleven in "Stranger Things" and the series just won the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award during this year's SAG. Prior to "Stranger Things" she did appear in minor roles in "Grey's Anatomy" and "Once Upon a Time."

"Godzilla: King of Monsters" is the sequel to the 2014 "Godzilla" which starred Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Neither of the two stars have been confirmed to reprise their roles. It is also uncertain if Ken Watanabe will be coming back as well.

The film will be helmed by "Krampus" director Michael Dougherty. He is also co-writing the script with collaborator Zach Shields. They have worked together for "Krampus" and for "Trick 'r Treat," both of which were also produced by Legendary Pictures.

"Godzilla: King of Monsters" releases on March 22, 2019. The official trailer for the first "Godzilla" can be viewed below:
