Android 7.1.2 Nougat released for Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Pixel C

Google has confirmed on releasing Android 7.1.2 Nougat to beta testers using devices like Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, and Pixel C

The Android 7.1.2 Nougat is an incremental update over the previous version of 7.1.1 Nougat. Since it is available in beta version, only users who have enrolled in the Android Beta Program would be able to try the update. The beta version is currently available to devices like Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Pixel C.

However, when its final version will be available after couple of months, it will be made available to all the aforementioned devices along with the Nexus 6P and Nexus Player. According to the official blog, if users own any of the above devices, the notification on the arrival of the public beta will show up automatically on the device.  The Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will not be receiving the Android 7.1.2 update as the two years of operating system updates is no longer valid for these devices, Droid-Life reported.

The Android 7.1.2 Nougat refines the features that are already available on the previous build. It also comes with several bug fixes and optimizations. It also includes some improvements for carriers. Google has not released a changelog for the update.

Google had launched Android 7.0 Nougat for Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Pixel C in August 2016. The Google Pixel and Pixel XL flagship smartphones that were launched in October came preloaded with Android 7.1 Nougat OS. For other Android N compatible, it announced the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS in December.

Smartphone OEMs have not released Android N upgrade are still in the process of rolling out Android N to their devices. In 2016, Google had released the first developer preview of Android N in March and during the Google I/O 2016 event in May, it announced the third developer previews and the final version was released in August.

Google has confirmed that its I/O 2017 event will be held between May 17 to 19. The search engine giant is expected to announce various products including Android O dubbed as Android Oreo by the rumor mill.
