Rumors have it that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus flagship smartphones will be coming with larger batteries than the ones present in Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a 3,000 mAh battery whereas the S7 Edge houses a 3,600 mAh battery. Korean media has reported that Samsung has ordered for 3,250 mAh and 3,750 mAh batteries from its suppliers. Speculations are now hinting that these batteries may power the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, Sam Mobile reported.
The Galaxy S8 that is expected to feature a 5.8-inch display measures 131.5 x 68 mm whereas the Galaxy S8 Plus is pegged to include a 6.2-inch screen and it measures 159.5 x 73.3 mm., Pocket Now reported. Both the phones are rumored to feature dual-edge curved displays. The Galaxy S7 that features a 3,000 mAh battery and a 5.1-inch display measures 142.4 x 69.6 and the Galaxy S7 Edge that has a 5.5-inch dual-edge curved screen measures 150.9 x 72.6 mm
Even though the specifications of the batteries are mentioned as 3,250 mAh and 3,750 mAh, their capacities can be altered by Samsung according to their requirements. After the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, Samsung may want to build trust with its customers. Hence, it may have opted to introduce larger batteries on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones.
In the previous, Samsung had announced that the Galaxy Note 7 smartphones had exploded because of faulty batteries. It had also announced that the company will be adhering to 8-point battery check system to inspect the batteries that will come in its future devices.
Samsung will be present at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 on Feb. 27 this month. During its upcoming press conference, it is expected to unleash the Galaxy Tab S3 tablet. It is expected to announce a midrange smartphone, the Galaxy J7 (2017). As far as Galaxy S8 is concerned, the Seoul-based company has confirmed that it won't be launching the flagship at MWC 2017.
However, it is expected to preview the Galaxy S8 smartphone through a teaser video at the upcoming launch event. Rumors have stated that the Galaxy S8 will be announced on March 29 through a launch event. It is expected to be available for purchase in mid-April.
