Apple is expected to unveil their new iPhone 8 specs soon as analysts believe that the smartphone will be the most anticipated in the company's line. It will be the 10th anniversary iPhone model which puts a lot of pressure for the Cupertino-based tech giant.
There are several claims in the recent iPhone 8 leaks and speculations. One of the most common ones is that it will the first smartphone from Apple to sport an OLED screen.
Previous models have always used the traditional LCD panels which may be better for color reproduction but they consume more power. LCD panels also lack brightness compared to OLED. If that is the only thing different between the new model and the old ones, it may stand to be a weak selling point for those who are looking for uniqueness.
Apple's iPhone 8 with an OLED screen would just be similar to the other players in the market which have already adopted the technology for several years, Forbes reported. Samsung's smartphones and phablets such as the Galaxy S7 Edge and the Galaxy Note 7 are known for their high-quality Super AMOLED screens.
Apple using OLED screens for their new iPhone 8 models would still be a welcome addition. It would help users save more battery power while enjoying brighter screens. OLED panels only light up the non-black pixels which means darker UI screens or other visual effects can help save battery juice.
Loyal Apple fans will have to wait until September to see the iPhone 8 specs and two more other models, BGR reported. The other two are expected to be the iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus. Both may be revealed earlier as the iPhone 8 release date may overshadow the devices.
Apple still has not confirmed any of the rumors but most of the speculations end up being true. More iPhone 8 leaks and rumors are expected to surface in the following months.
