Moto G5 Plus to feature smaller display than Moto G4 Plus

A leaked photo of the alleged Moto G5 Plus suggests that it would be coming a smaller display than the one present on Moto G4 Plus.

The Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are packed with 5.5-inch displays, but the upcoming Moto G5 Plus is pegged to include a 5.2-inch screen. A leaked shot of the smartphone that has appeared on Google Plus has revealed some of the key features of Moto G5 Plus, Gizmo China reported.

The protective layer of plastic placed on top of the display of the alleged Moto G5 Plus has revealed that it would be coming with a 5.2-inch display that would carry support for full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. There is no official confirmation on the size of its display, but it does seem that the smartphone would be housing a smaller screen compared to its predecessor.

According to GSM Arena, the Moto Z Play that is already selling in the market is equipped with a 5.5-inch screen and it powered by a Snapdragon 625 chipset. The smartphone also carries support for Moto Mods accessories. The Moto G5 Plus is unlikely to support Moto Mods, but it is expected to be powered by the same chipset. The leaked shot says that it will be powered by a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor that is heavily pegged to belong to Snapdragon 625 SoC.

Since Lenovo may want the market to have two smartphones with very similar specs, it is likely that the company may have decided on using a smaller screen on Moto G5 Plus. Rumors have it that the Moto G5 would be coming with a 5-inch display. In order to sell the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus as budget phones, these devices are expected to come with plastic chassis.

The other features mentioned on the protective plastic sheet on Moto G5 Plus suggest that the device would be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery with TurboPower support. Other features include 12-megapixel Rapid focus shooter, fingerprint reader, NFC and Motorola Experience probably through its exclusive apps. Previous rumors have hinted that the device would be coming with 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
