Disneyland Celebrates 60th Birthday With 24-Hour Entertainment; Neil Patrick Harris To Front 'World Of Color' Show With Mickey Mouse

Disneyland will celebrate its 60th birthday this year and to honor this milestone, the "happiest place on earth" will be opening its park for 24 hours on May 22, the Disney Parks announced.

The Anaheim parks is to open on the said date at 6:00 am and continue until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. This will be the fourth straight year that the theme park will be conducting a 24-hour event.

This celebration will hold an event called "Paint the Night," a new nighttime parade that will feature 1.5 million LED lights and famous characters from the most popular Disney movies like "Frozen," "Toy Story," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Little Mermaid," "Cars," and "Monsters Inc," the Los Angeles Times reported.

A new fireworks show will also take place. Named "Disneyland Forever" fireworks show, it will make use of a "projection mapping technology" to project Disney Movies' scenes on Matterhorn mountain, storefronts, and the "It is a Small World" ride.

The Disney officials have also revealed that the Carthey Circle Theatre in California and the Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland will be decorated with diamond exteriors to reflect its diamond anniversary.

The "World of Color" at Disney's California Adventure, will also be run to use lights, water, and fire in telling the victorious history of Walt Disney, his park, and Mickey Mouse. Neil Patrick Harris, who hosted the Oscars this year, will be fronting the "World of Color" show.

Disney Florida's Magic Kingdom will also hold a 24-hour-event; however, only selected entertainment and attractions will be made available.
