Three unnamed characters as they prepare to fight off the undead in "State of Decay 2."

Undead Labs' sequel to 2013's "State of Decay" to be obviously dubbed as "State of Decay 2" has become silent for quite a while until now. The game developer has been dishing out artistic renders of the upcoming game for weeks now making its player base light up with glee.

The third-week concept art of the game that was posted on Feb. 3 at "SoD's" website was a double treat to fans as it featured two images highlighting the technical elements of the game as it showcased the same undead-laden spot during night and day time. The recently released image is toned down in comparison to its predecessor that depicted a heavily urbanized setting.

The new artwork has a more toned down feel onto it though there is still a pinch of undead to it. In addition, the developer even took to Twitter these images to be seen by its longing fandom. It was even described as a "mood piece more than anything" and added that the game has always highlighted beauty from a still world that somehow helps break up tight situations in the game.

Meanwhile, the game maker assured fans that the game will arrive this 2017, and added that its release date will be revealed at E3 2017, according to SegmentNext. Such announcement would be perfect as it was also made known that the said event will now open its doors to the public.

The latest installment of the game will feature a drop in drop off four player co-operative gameplay meaning players can build a community together or their friends can leave the pack whenever they wish. It was also announced early on that the map of the new game will be substantially bigger than the first title, though some are now debating that it will have an open world environment.
