"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 has already wrapped up its filming, and Zach Roerig was one of the cast members who became a tad bit emotional on set.
Following his final filming day, Roerig spoke with TV Line to say that his schedule changed at the last minute. Which means that he did not have any idea that he will be filming his final scene ahead of everyone else.
However, even though Roerig was one of the first to finish filming, he was with his co-stars until the final filming day. Talking about the mood on set on the said day, the actor said that everyone was giddy. At the same time, a lot of his co-stars also broke down in tears realizing that that would be their last day in Mystic Falls.
Meanwhile, Roerig also dished on what is in store for his character, Matt Donovan, in the final four episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. According to him, Matt's biggest wish to become everyone's hero will come true.
In the finale, Matt will be the one responsible for saving and putting all of his friends together since he will be saving everyone in Mystic Falls. When asked if Matt will finally get killed in the finale since he is the only one who remains to be a human being, Roerig joked that his character is like a Band-Aid.
"He is always going to be okay. I do not know, and I do not know why, but I trust him," he said.
In other news, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, episode 13 will see the return of the villainous character Kai. He was the one responsible for putting Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) under the sleeping spell. Since "TVD" is already ending, Kai needs to return to lift the spell off of Elena's shoulders.
There are also rumors that Katherine will return to the final episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. Katherine is Elena's doppelganger, and she was previously linked to the Salvatore brothers.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 airs Fridays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
