The upcoming movie "Avengers: Infinity Wars" is slated to bring together several iconic superhero characters from the Marvel Comic Universe in a huge battle against Thanos (voice actor Josh Brolin). Latest spoiler news teased of a change in Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) weaponry choice from a hammer to an axe.
"Avengers: Infinity Wars" is one of the highly-anticipated films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe line-up. Given its mash-up of even more superheroes that now includes Spiderman (Tom Holland) and some of the protagonists from "Guardians of the Galaxy," avid fans have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the "Avengers" movie franchise saga.
However, one of the Avengers might be wielding a different weapon in the superheroes' upcoming fight against Thanos namely Thor. The latest behind-the-scenes clip recently released by Marvel featured a concept art of the Norse god fighting alongside Rocket (voice actor Bradley Cooper).
Rocket was depicted wielding guns while Thor held what appears to be a different weapon. Sadly, the concept art did not include a full view of the said weapon but many fans speculated that it might be an axe instead of the said Norse god's iconic hammer, Mjolnir.
Story speculations posted on Comic Book indicated that the concept art might have depicted a different version of Thor's hammer namely the Ultimate Mjolnir. However, another speculation pointed to the Marvel superhero potentially using a battle axe called Jarnbjorn.
The said superhero was known to have wielded Jarnbjorn in the Marvel Comics Universe. Thor even imbued the battle axe with his blood to make it stronger and allow it to cut through Celestial armor.
Meanwhile, story speculations posted on Cinema Blend indicated that the said concept art may have given fans a clue about a potential plot development in the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" movie. Thor might have lost his link to Mjolnir in the upcoming film or the weapon might have gotten destroyed, according to the report.
At this point, it is still unclear if the said story speculations will happen in "Avengers: Infinity Wars" and "Thor: Ragnarok." Showrunners have yet to comment on the said news.
"Thor: Ragnarok" is slated to hit movie theaters on Nov. 3, while "Avengers: Infinity Wars" will be released on May 4, 2018. Watch a behind-the-scenes clip below:
