Logan will serve as the last Wolverine spin-off starring Hugh Jackaman and Patrick Stewart and directed by James Mangold.

The latest details and possible spoilers for "Logan" will feature X-23's origin in a new trailer and Wolverine responsible for the X-Men's death.

It seems that a new theory for "Logan" will explain what possibly happened to the X-Men and the whole mutant race before and during the events of the film as Screenrant speculated that there are some similarities between the movie and the "Old Man Logan" comics.

According to the theory, it is possible that Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) could be responsible for the demise of the X-Men, albeit being tricked into killing them similar to the "Old Man Logan". This could explain why Logan does not want to be involved with a new mutant or with Charles Xavier (Partick Stewart), and why he feels that he would be better off alone.

However, it is not the only possibility, and there are enough other differences between the comic and the movie to make viewers and fans alike wonder what else could have happened.

Another the possibility could be Transigen, a project under the Essex Corp. and are responsible for the creation of the mutant hunting cyborgs the Reavers and Wolverine's clone Laure Kinney/X-23 (Dafne Keen).

Fans have speculated that Transigen could have significantly slowed the birth rate of mutants, including the use of viruses or the simple kidnapping of existing mutants for experimentation. Of course, Transigen may instead be attempting to create more mutants, not wipe them out, meaning something else is responsible for the mutant extinction.

Other possible theories for the X-Men's death and the mutant extinction could be time-travel since "Logan" takes place several years after the ending of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" were in Logan was successful in changing the future where the Sentinels ruled a ruined dystopian world. But, it seems that it will backfire in itself and something worse has cause the X-Men's disbandment and the mutant's total demise.

In other news, a new "Logan" trailer will feature the origin story of Laura Kinney and how Transigen experimented on her.

As seen on the trailer, several surgical and medical equipment are present as they operate on Laura with both her adamantium claws popping out of each hand. The trailer also shows that Laura is not only in the Transigen facility as several mutant children are shown and are being led to their respected rooms. One scene will feature Laura cutting herself with her claws and quickly heals from them, Nerdist reported.

"Logan" will be in cinemas on March 3.
