HTC plans on releasing a mobile virtual reality solution with the release of a Vive mobile VR headset as part of its vision to dominate the high-end VR market. The news was confirmed by HTC's CFO Chia-Lin Chang, who revealed that the new headset will work with their new flagship smartphone, the HTC U Ultra.

Speaking to CNET, Chang revealed that their new offer will not be the same as "a phone slapped into a headset," just like Google's and Samsung's mobile VR solutions, Daydream View and Gear. Compared with the said devices, HTC's Vive mobile VR headset is tether free.

According to Chang, the Taiwanese tech giant has a great plan in combining VR with mobility. He also teased that the public would see more of HTC's plans in the VR market in the coming months.

While details about the forthcoming headset remain scarce, rumor has it that it is not going to be as simple as Samsung's Gear but not as high-end as the biggest brands in the VR industry. As early as now, mobile enthusiasts are already excited to know how the HTC will be able to find the middle ground between the likes of Gear and those of Vive.

As reported by Tech Radar, the new HTC VR headset is powered by the high-end smartphone of HTC but does not rely solely on it when it comes to the display. As previously mentioned by HTC at the 2016 Mobile World Congress, the up and coming headset will straddle the line between the VR and smartphone arms of the business. Hence, it will be a notch higher than the existing low-end VR headsets but will not be as high-end as the existing top-of-the-line brands.

As of now, the only thing that is sure is that the new VR headset is already in the pipeline. Hopefully, tech enthusiasts will get to know more about the features of this device in the coming months.
