Blizzard is looking to shake things up for "Hearthstone" as they teased many changes coming to the game. The new changes and improvements will be part of the Year of the Mammoth change that will replace the Year of the Kraken.
"Hearthstone" already had many expansions in the past few years and it is tradition that the older cards will be moved to the Wild game mode. However, Blizzard will also be including some Classic cards as well to balance out the meta this year.
Conceal, Power Overwhelmingand Ice Lance will be moved to the Hall of Fame set which means that they will not be available for Standard play anymore. Ragnaros the Firelord, Sylvanas Windrunner and Azure Drake will also be removed from the Standard mode.
Blizzard will give the full value of dust for each copies of the Hall of Fame cards even without the player disenchanting them, Game Spot has learned. They will also be able to play the cards in Wild mode.
One reason why the cards were chosen is because they were often auto-includes in decks which limits players. Blizzard wants players to freely build their decks without sticking to a formula that depends on the current meta of the game.
"Hearthstone" will also be getting more expansion cards this year as well as daily login rewards for a limited time, Polygon reported. Dust, gold and card packs will be part of the daily rewards although there is no announcement yet when it will start or end.
Blizzard will also be giving away the new Rogue hero Maiev Shadowsong when the first Year of the Mammoth expansion starts. Players will only need to win 10 games in Standard, Casual or Ranked mode to gain the new hero.
There is no release date yet for the expansion. However, "Hearthstone" year changes usually happen somewhere between the start and end of April.
