In the last year Comic-con, when it was announced that Brie Larson will play the role of Carol Danvers in the upcoming female-led superhero movie ''Captain Marvel,'' the speculations ended for the main cast. But the choice of the right director is yet to be made, and as per the latest reports, Lorene Scafaria seems to be the most popular choice.
Lorene Scafaria started her career with acting in a small budget comedy film ''Big Helium Dog'' in 1999. Her career as a scriptwriter started with a romantic comedy-drama film ''Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist'' which was released on Oct, 3, 2008 and made a whopping $33,506,137 at the box office.
She did not have to look back after that, and then she moved on to writing the script and directing the 2012 American comedy-drama film ''Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.'' This movie had big stars like Keira Knightley and made a moderate $9.6 million in the box office against a budget of $10 million.
Even though Niki Caro, Lesli Linka Glatter, and Scafaria were selected as the initial three shortlisted candidates for the position of a director for Marvel's ambitious project ''Captain Marvel,'' they have not finalized any name yet. Even though the president Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios had hinted that he will look at selecting a director before 2016 ends, nothing concrete has happened in that direction, reported Cinema Blend.
The movie ''Captain Marvel'' is all set to be released on Women's day on March 8, 2019, and Nicole Perlman (famed for writing the script for ''Guardians of the Galaxy'' along with James Gunn, the director of the movie) and Meg LeFauve (famed for writing the script for 2015 3D computer-animated comedy-drama adventure film ''Inside Out'' and 2015's 3D computer-animated drama adventure film ''The Good Dinosaur'') have been writing the script for ''Captain Marvel'' for some time now.
According to Greek Dad, Perlman is assigned with other projects from Marvel which includes writing the script for ''Detective Pikachu'' (a Pokemon feature film) and Gamora ongoing comics.
