Boris Becker believes there is more to come for Roger Federer after the Swiss Maestro won his 18th major title at the Australian Open last month.

Federer surpassed expectations after his remarkable run in Melbourne that made him an 18-time Grand Slam winner. The 35-year-old's triumph has set up an intriguing season in men's tennis, and while it remains to be seen whether Federer could repeat his performance in the coming tournaments, Becker believes it positioned Federer to win more majors in the foreseeable future.

"The way Federer played in Melbourne, it goes on to show that there is more to come and that is true for Rafa [Nadal] also," Becker said, reports Tennis World USA.

"The more he [Federer] wins, the more he will want to play. Tennis at top level is about mentality and not so much about form. The maturity of a player is important."

There were concerns about Federer's ability to play at a high level last year after the Swiss suffered a knee injury that forced him to the sidelines. But after a lengthy lay-off following his injury in Wimbledon, Federer capped his return to the Tour on a high note, defeating Nadal in the finals of the Australian Open to capture his 18th Grand Slam title.

"My popularity here [Australia], their support, that I can still do it at my age after not having won a slam for almost five years. That's what I see," Federer said, reports the ATP's official website. "The last problem is the slam count. Honestly, it doesn't matter."

Federer will next play at the Dubai Duty Free Championships in UAE on Feb. 27. Federer, a six-time titlist at the tournament, could face the likes of Andy Murray and defending champion Stan Wawrinka, who will also be present at the event.
