The Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone has one of the largest screens in the market.

Xiaomi will be highlighting again its bezel-less design on the upcoming iteration for its Mi MIX smartphone. The well-received feature will see a big improvement on the Mi MIX 2, which is expected to increase up to 93 percent of screen-to-body ratio.

After the unique approach of bezel-less design integrated in the Xiaomi Mi MIX, the company announced that it is currently working with the second smartphone under the "Mi MIX" series. In a Weibo post, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared the company's new collaboration with French designer Philippe Starck, which will be for the Mi MIX 2, Digital Trends reported.

The French designer who has worked with the original Mi MIX smartphone will be returning to put more improvements and upgrade on the upcoming Mi MIX 2 handset. Seeing how the first Mi MIX eliminated its bezel on top through Elliptic Lab's ultrasound technology, rumor has it that Xiaomi may attempt to remove the bottom bezel in order to expand its screen-to-body ratio to 93 percent.

On another note, the upcoming Mi MIX II may carry the same ceramic body similar to its predecessor. However, WCCFTech noted that the upcoming Mi MIX 2 may see hardware stabilization on the rear and front camera.

Xiaomi's founder did not reveal any key specs or hardware for the upcoming Mi MIX 2, although he made a guarantee of putting the exciting innovations into reality.

For the uninitiated, the Xiaomi Mi MIX sports a ceramic finish and a 6.4-inch display which bears a 9:17 aspect ratio resulting to a 1080x2040 pixels resolution. It covers a pixel density of 362ppi, and a 94-percent NTSC colour gamut.

Under the hood, the Mi MIX is armed with Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC, coupled with two RAM and storage variants: a 4GB/6GB of RAM and a 128GB/256GB of non-expandable native storage. On the camera front, the device features a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-snapper. It houses a 4,400mAh battery with Qualcomm's Quick Charge fast charging. It comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed with the company's MIUI 8 OS placed on top.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 will likely enter its preliminary testing soon so the company may probably take some time before releasing the said smartphone. For now, customers should wait for further leaks about the phone's upcoming specs and availability.
