The lovers of the ''Sword Art Online'' franchise welcomed the movie ''Ordinal Scale'' with open arms in Japan on Feb. 18 when it was premiered in theaters. The English version of this popular movie will be premiered in the US in on March 9.
The screenplay is written by the original anime writer Reki Kawahara and the film is produced by A-1 Pictures. The followers of the ''Sword Art Online'' series might already by familiar with the music of Yuki Kajiura whose mesmerizing tunes in the TV anime series had captivated the audience.
In the US, the movie will be premiered with English subtitles on March 9, in a special event. Using the technology of augmented reality, the protagonists Kirito and Asuna along with their team members will explore the world of ''Ordinal Scale.''
Sony promoted their ''Hi-Res Audio'' headphones with this movie, Crunchyroll reported. This equipment can playback audio files rendered at 96khz/24-bit resolution. This gadget is aimed at the lovers of high-resolution music and the hardcore audiophiles are already getting hooked on to a new way of listening to music.
The first twelve minutes of the movie was previewed through Sony on the PlayStation 4, Comicbook anime reported. In the US, the special one-night event will be sponsored by Fathom Events, Aniplex of America Inc. and Eleven Arts. This event which will be held at 20:00 will include an exclusive featurette of the voice actors Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito) and Haruka Tomatsu (Asuna). The original clipping will be in Japanese with English subtitles.
After the special event, the movie will be released for the worldwide audience. The movie has been distributed in more than 500 select movie theaters across the U.S. "Fathom Events is proud to continue to bring the very best in anime to American cinemas with the debut of this title," Fathom Events CEO John Rubey told to the lovers of the SAO series.
