Contending team Everton FC (11-6-8, 41 points) will look to preserve their unbeaten run as they square off with cellar-dwelling club Sunderland AFC (5-16-4, 19 points) in a 2016-2017 Premier League season match at the Goodison Park on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Everton has been undefeated in their last eight matches to remain in the seventh spot of the English top flight table. The team is now seven points behind sixth-running team Manchester United and eight points below next season's Europa League qualifying berth currently held by fifth-place team Liverpool.

The Toffees were held to a 0-0 tie by newly-promoted team Middlesbrough FC on the road at the Riverside Stadium in their most recent Premier League fixture on Feb. 11, as per Sports Mole.

It was the second drawn match for head coach Ronald Koeman's squad in their last three games as the team has been inconsistent in their scoring in the past few rounds.

Meanwhile, Sunderland is coming off an embarrassing 0-4 thrashing at the hands of middling squad Southampton FC at their own home ground of Stadium of Light also on Feb. 11, Chronicle Live reported.

Southampton forward Manolo Gabbiadini netted the game's first two goals in the 30th and 45th minutes to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at the halftime break.

An own goal by Sunderland defender Jason Denayer made it a 3-0 count in the 88th minute before Irish forward Shane Long buried the Saints' fourth goal in stoppage time for the final count.

The loss came after the Black Cats won with a similar 4-0 score over Crystal Palace in the previous round. It was the fifth winless performance for head coach David Moyes' side in their last six outings as they remained in the bottom of the standings. They are currently tied on points with Palace but has a lesser goal differential.
