"Casper" actor Devon Sawa has signed on to join "Mission Impossible" actress Paula Patton in the ABC thriller drama series "Somewhere Between." He returns to broadcast TV after his appearance on The CW's "Nikita."
According to Deadline, Sawa is set to play a cop-turned-private investigator named Nico Jackson in "Somewhere Between." He will hopefully figure out the murder mystery. He also joins "Legend Of The Seeker" co-creator Stephen Tolkin is penning the script, which is based on a Korean format.
The story of "Somewhere Between" will focus on Patton's character Laura Price, who is a superstar news producers and a fiercely loving mom. She somehow knows exactly when, where, and how her daughter Serena will be murdered soon, Variety reported.
However, Price does not know the murderer and the reason he killed Serena. She tries her very best to keep her safe but failed to do so. She is led directly to the path of Serena's killer because of Serena's fixed, unmovable, terrifying fate.
Thunderbird Entertainment is producing "Somewhere Between" in association with ITV Studios America. "Brothers & Sisters" alum Stephen Tolkins is penning the script and executive produces along with Ivan Fecan and Joseph Broido. ITV Studios Global Entertainment handles the international distribution.
Sawa's notable teen film credits include "Final Destination," "Casper" and "Idle Hands," which made him popular in the late 1990s. He is represented by Gersh, Principato Young Entertainment, and Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson.
For Patton, "Somewhere Between" marks her first series regular role on television. She was being eyed a lead role on TV in two ABC pilot seasons. She was cast in another drama "Runner" from the network but was not picked up to series. She is represented by CAA and currently battling her marriage with Robin Thicke.
Before casting took place, "Somewhere Between" was ordered in late 2016 as a 10-episode straight-to-series thriller drama for the first season from ABC. It was picked up after the cancellation of the network's summer series "Mistresses." It was the second series from the network following Kyra Sedgwick's "10 Days in the Valley" with similar themes as well.
"Somewhere Between" will be filming in Vancouver, Canada, and will be aired sometime this coming summer.
