BTS’s ‘WINGS,’ ‘Blood Sweat & Tears’ win Album, Song of the Year awards, beat EXO’s ‘Lotto,’ Taeyeon’s ‘Why’

The BTS boys won big at the 12th Annual Soompi Awards. Their album titled "WINGS" was voted Album of the Year while their song "Blood Sweat & Tears" was chosen as Song of the Year.

The winners of the annual survey with 29 categories were announced on March 2, Thursday, by Soompi. With Fuse and ZANYBROS as partners, the United States-based online news provider specializing in Korean pop culture received almost 100 million votes from hallyu fans from 139 countries across the globe from Dec. 19, 2016 to Jan. 16.

In the Album of the Year category, "WINGS" managed to win over 14 other albums. The other nominees were "1 of 1" by Shinee, "Blooming Period" by Block B, "Dream" by Jung Eun Ji, "Highlight" by Beast, "Insane Love" by Sistar, "Lol" by GFriend, "Lotto" by EXO, "Melting" by Mamamoo, "Page Two by TWICE, "Russian Roulette" by Red Velvet, "Seoulite" by Lee Hi, "Spring" by Akdong Musician, "Street" by Exid and "Why" by Taeyeon.

"Blood Sweat & Tears" also defeated 14 other nominees. The other nominated songs were "You're the Best" by Mamamoo, "Why So Lonely" by Wonder Girls, "Why" by Taeyeon, "Whistle" by Blackpink, "Very very very" by I.O.I, "Toy" by Block B, "Russian Roulette" by Red Velvet, "Ribbon" by Beast, "Only One" by APink, "Navillera" by GFriend, "Monster" by EXO, "L.I.E" by Exid, "I Like That" by Sistar and "Cheer Up" by TWICE.
