'Black Sails’ star Luke Roberts starred in ‘Ransom,' 'Game of Thrones,' 'Reign'

Born in Suffolk, United Kingdom, Luke Roberts is an English actor known for playing Wooders Rogers in 'Black Sails,' Ser Arthur Dayne in 'Game of Thrones' and Eric Beaumont in 'Ransom.'

Luke Roberts currently plays Woodes Rogers in "Black Sails" and Eric Beaumont in "Ransom." Prior to this, he starred in several other TV series. Here are five of the characters he previously played on the small screen:

1. Ser Arthur Dayne in "Game of Thrones"

In 2016, Roberts played a knight of House Dayne in "Game of Thrones" Season  episode 3 titled "Oathbreaker." Unfortunately, the character was killed by Howland Reed (Leo Woodruff) and Eddard Stark (Sean Bean).

2. Simon Westbrook in "Reign"

In 2013, Roberts appeared in two episodes of "Reign." He played an English diplomat who represents Scotland's greatest enemy with a mission to scare way Mary Stuart (Adelaide Kane) away from French court.

3. Connor Sorvino in "Beauty and the Beast"

Roberts appeared in two episodes of "Beauty and the Beast" Season 1. He played an ex-con who was obsessed with Alex Salter (Bridget Regan).

4. Daniel Fryer and Joseph Byrne in "Holby City"

Roberts first appeared in "Beauty and the Beast" in Season 7 episode 30 as Daniel Fryer, a relative of a deceased patient. He was then asked to return to the show to play a troubled surgeon named Joseph Byrne, which he played from 2006 to 2011.

5. Rhys Richards in "Taxi Brooklyn"

In 2014, Roberts played a recurring role in "Taxi Brooklyn" Season 1. The character dated Detective Caitlin Mary Darcy "Cat" Sullivan (Chyler Leigh).

In "Ransom," Roberts plays an experienced crisis and hostage negotiator. Among his co-stars in the CBS series are Brandon Jay McLaren, Nazneen Contractor and Sarah Greene, who told Paste Magazine in 2016 that she was a big fan of "Ransom" co-creator Frank Spotnitz.   

In "Black Sails," Roberts plays a English Captain who has a mission to permanently end piracy in Nassau. Before the Starz series' Season 4 finale, his co-star Hannah New's character Eleanor Guthrie died. New told Collider that the only moment of peace given to her character was "that one lie from Flint, that Woodes Rogers didn't come with the Spanish."
