K-Pop boy band Super Junior performs live at the Cotai Arena in The Venetian on November 30, 2013 in Macau.

Chinese-South Korean boy band Super Junior-M member Henry Lau, 27, who is professionally known as Henry, is set to release a new single. The release date of the song titled "Girlfriend" has been pushed back because of the impeachment of former South Korean president Park Geun Hye, 65.

Because of the impeachment, the scheduled broadcast of "I Live Alone" on March 10, Friday, was cancelled. Henry was supposed to show a behind-the-scenes look at the production of "Girlfriend" on the MBC show.

"Girlfriend" was previously titled "What Should I Do?" Part of the song was sung during the appearance of the Super Junior-M member of the music program "You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook."

Viewers will then get to see on the March 17 episode of "I Live Alone" the process of making "Girlfriend," Soompi has learned. On March 18, Henry will release the song on various music charts.

Hours before the airing of the March 10, Friday, episode of "I Live Alone," Chief Justice Lee Jung Mi, the acting chief of South Korea's Constitutional Court, announced live on TV that they have unanimously upheld the impeachment of Park. This made the former president the country's first democratically elected leader to be ousted.

On Dec. 9, 2016, parliament impeached Park on several charges, one of which accused her of neglecting her duties during a 2014 Sewol ferry sinking that killed 304 people. Her office allegedly created a blacklist of artists who protested against the government's handling of the disaster.

Cannes winner "Oldboy" director Park Chan Wook, 53, and "Snowpiercer" actor Song Kang Ho, 50, were among those who were reported to be in the blacklist. They were said be denied government support.

In 2016, several Korean celebrities actively protested against the former president. Among them were "The Crying Woman" actor Kim Yoo Jung, 17, former K-Pop boy band MBLAQ member Lee Joon, 29, and former K-pop group Kara member Han Seung Yeon, 28.

The impeached president's successor must be elected within 60 days. An election is expected to take place on May 9, according to Yonhap News.
