In her Twitter bio, a bodybuilder used a brief motivational line to introduce herself: “Be the best [that] i [sic] can be!”
Recently, indeed she did.
Mou Cong won twice at the Arnold Sports Festival 2017 held in Columbus, Ohio, on March 5, the last day of the 4-day event, reported MailOnline.
Not only Mou’s smile and the rhinestones in her attire dazzled during the competition.
Her sculpted figure outshone that of more than a dozen challengers, winning the female bodybuilding event for those under 167 cm. and becoming the overall champion in the Arnold Amateur - Women’s Figure.
Aside from Americans, the female Chinese bodybuilder champion bested other bodybuilders from different countries, such as those from Canada, Italy and Russia.
Composed of six groups, Mou belonged to Figure D, where she was the lone Asian, according to the official site of Arnold Amateur.
In the general Women’s Figure event, she competed with Chikako Akiyama (Figure A) from Japan.
Some female Japanese bodybuilders joined other competitions in the sports festival, but Mou was the only participant from China.
Mou, who also goes by the name Morgana Mou, hails from Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province.
She works as a fitness instructor.
In an interview with MailOnline, which described her as having the “face of an angel, body of the Hulk,” Muo gave her own description of herself.
“My beauty is a combination of the Chinese and Western culture,” said the 2017 Arnold Amateur’s female Chinese bodybuilder champion.
In another interview with Kit Anderson for U.S.-based magazine Muscular Development Latino, she said, “I feel great!”
It was her first time to join.
“I traveled 20 hours . . . I come far but [started to raise and mildly shake her trophy] . . . that’s [sic] means something to me,” she added.
Mou, all smiles and visibly elated, thanked all the people in China who supported her, particularly her coach, who “really, really pushed me a lot.”
Anderson asked, “All the people back in China, do you have a special shout-out for them?”
Mou replied: “I’m gonna tell them ‘Come! Come compete! Get out!’”
She also expressed optimism that other Chinese bodybuilders will take part in Arnold Amateur in 2018.
“You will see them on stage. I’m really sure about that.”
The “Arnold” in “Arnold Sports Festival” refers to Hollywood “Terminator” and former California governor (2003-2010) Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Schwarzenegger co-founded the multi-sport event in 1989.
Before the 69-year-old actor received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the iconic fictional characters he played, he first carved a name in the world of bodybuilding.
With an imposing physique during his prime, the 6-foot-2-inch Schwarzenegger bagged seven Mr. Olympia titles (1970-1975; 1980) and four Mr. Universe titles (1967, 1968-1970).
Madrid-based International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness annually holds the Arnold Sports Festival.
The Arnold Classic Asia Sports Festival will happen in Hong Kong on Aug. 19-20.
