After ‘Rogue One,’ Donnie Yen stars in ‘Ip Man 4,’ ‘Sleeping Dogs’ in 2018

In 2018, fans of Donnie Yen, 53, will see him in at least two feature films. After playing Chirrut Imwe in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and Xiang in "xXx: Return of Xander Cage," the martial artist and action star will reprise the title character in "Ip Man 4" and will be part of the cast of "Sleeping Dogs."

Wilson Yip is returning for the fourth time to direct "Ip Man 4." The screenplay will be written by Edmond Wong, who also wrote the first three installments.

There are still no details about Yen's "Ip Man 4" co-stars. Among his co-stars in the third installment were Chan Kwok Kwan, Lynn Hung, Jin Zhang, Patrick Tam, Karena Ng, Cheung Kai Chung, Leung Ka Yan, Xiao Long Li, Ling Lei, Tats Lau and Mike Tyson, who was spotted at the BNP Paribas Open on March 11, The Desert Sun reported.

Like "Ip Man 4," details about the cast of "Sleeping Dogs" have yet to be announced. Only Yen has been confirmed to star in it.

"Sleeping Dogs" is based on the open world action-adventure video game of the same name. the video game was developed by United Front Games and Square Enix London for PlayStation 3, Windowa and Xbox 360 platforms and it was published by Square Enix.

Set in contemporary Hong Kong, the single-player story of the "Sleeping Dogs" video game follows an undercover Hong Kong-American police officer named Wei Shen, who is on assignment to infiltrate the Sun On Yee Triad organization. Yen will play the character in the film.

Original Film is producing the "Sleeping Dogs" film with DJ2 Entertainment, which is currently co-producing the upcoming live-action/CG feature "Sonic the Hedgehog" for Sony. Toby Ascher and Stephan Bugaj are executive producing with Neal Moritz, Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons as producers, Deadline reported.
