‘Descendants of the Sun’ wins Grand Prize at Korea Communications Commission Broadcasting Awards 2017

"Descendants of the Sun" and "Goblin" are two of the winners at Korea Communications Commission Broadcasting Awards 2017. The former aired on KBS2 from Feb. 24, 2016 to April 14, 2016 while the latter aired on tvN from Dec. 2, 2016 to Jan. 21.

A total of 338 works were evaluated for Korea Communications Commission Broadcasting Awards 2017. The Grand Prize was given to "Descendants of the Sun" because of its excellent script and acting, message of peace and devotion in humankind and phenomenal popularity as a pre-produced drama.

On the other hand, "Goblin" won an award for creativity. Other awardees were the tvN show "Signal" for cultural aspects and the JTBC show "Abnormal Summit" for diversity.

The Korea Communications Commission Broadcasting Awards 2017 ceremony was held on March 20, Monday. It was attended by around 300 guests including broadcast industry representatives and governmental workers, Soompi has learned.

On March 17, Friday, "Descendants of the Sun" star Song Joong Ki won the award in the acting category of the 29th Korea Producer Awards. Winners were chosen by producing directors themselves through a system of votes and almost all of the producing directors reportedly voted for Song.

The 29th Korea Producer Awards ceremony was held at the SBS Open Hall located in Deungchon neighborhood of Seoul, South Korea, OSEN reported. The award-giving body is run by the Korean Producers and Directors' Association.
