The LG UltraFine 5K display from Apple which was developed in collaboration with LG.

LG's UltraFine 5K Display was returned back after its shielding displayed interference to the Wi-Fi routers. The LG UltraFine 5k Display would be unusable when placed near a Wi-Fi router with some kind of interference causing the display to black out. This is considered a bad move for Apple as it elected to leave the display market, and partner with LG's new 27-inch UltraFine 5k and its other sibling units such as the 21.5-inch UltraFine 4k.

According to MacRumors, with the problem resurfacing, Apple has discounted its price on the display as low as $974 until the end of March but then returned to its normal price of $1,299.99. Apple also has discounted its other accessories such as its USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 until March 31.

The customers that have ordered the UltraFine 5k Display in the first release are subjected to repair. The display's serial number corresponds to the last digit of the year and the two-digit of the month. Buyers should prefer checking serial numbers that start with 702 or 703 to get the newer version of the display.

Furthermore, 9to5mac cited that LG's customer support service advised clients to move the router 2 meters away from the display. Customer service has said that this would correct the problem. Despite that, new testing showed that the issue would occur at a significantly longer distance from the router.

Nevertheless, sources say that once the repair request is initiated, it can take up to two days to receive the shipping label details and 7-10 days before the actual repair occurs as what was said by LG. There are an estimated 2 weeks before getting the repaired unit back in the customer's hands. Once the unit is repaired, it would now work as what is expected it to be. If customers were hesitant with the hassle of repairing, the newer unit would then be released in a month, approximately by the end of April.
