DC’s “Green Lantern Corps” hits theaters on June 19, 2020.

Warner Bros. and DC are actively developing "Green Lantern Corps," and reports reveal that the studio has found the perfect team to helm the film.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. and DC have assigned David Goyer ("Batman Begins" and "Man of Steel") to write the script together with Justin Rhodes. "Green Lantern Corps" is described as "Lethal Weapon" in space and will be based on an origin story from the comic books.

The "Green Lantern Corps" plot is said to focus on two main characters: Hal Jordan and John Stewart. John is described as an African-American Marine sniper prior to working with the Lantern Corps. The story focuses on John as a rookie Green Lantern and his relationship with the more battle-hardened Hal and the rest of the Corps.

After coming up with a script, the studio will proceed with looking for a director for "Green Lantern Corps." Word has surfaced, however, that Goyer is being considered to direct the movie. If ever he gets the job, this wouldn't be his first comic book superhero movie as he previously directed "Blade: Trinity."

So far, there has been no confirmed cast member for "Green Lantern Corps," although Armie Hammer is being associated with the film. There are rumblings that the actor being favored by Warner Bros. to play Hal Jordan.

At the SXSW, Hammer cleared up the "Green Lantern Corps" rumors. When asked if he's still in the running for the lead role, he said, "I don't know. Technically (I am), because they haven't hired anyone."

Previously, Hammer trolled fans on social media by interacting with Joe Manganiello on Twitter. Manganiello is playing Deathstroke in Ben Affleck's upcoming "Batman" movie.

Aside from Hammer, there's one more surprising name being attached to the project: Ryan Reynolds. The "Deadpool" star played Hal Jordan in the 2011 "Green Lantern" movie that received abysmal reviews.

According to The Wrap, DC is reportedly considering whether they should have Reynolds back as Hal. Other actors are reportedly being considered, including Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Cruise.

"Green Lantern Corps" is scheduled for release on July 24, 2020.
